Super Mario Galaxy Film Trailer Debuts, Introducing Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices

Nintendo alongside Illumination released the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. The reveal happened in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that centered on the forthcoming animated feature.

The follow-up to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will transport Mario to the far corners of the cosmos. In his journey, he meets a different royal figure and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.

A Space-Faring Quest Based on Beloved Titles

Much like the Wii-era games that provide its foundation, Mario will venture away from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. During his grand adventure, he will meet again some recognizable characters, for instance the Luma, a breakout star from the first movie.

But it appears Mario and his sibling Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who reportedly commands metallic abilities. Worth mentioning, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also includes nods to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Celebrity Voice Actors Come Back and Grow

The feature will see the return of the initial voice actors, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. It was announced by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.

A Significant Period for Mario

Mario's latest cinematic adventure is planned to debut near the 40th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. game. In addition to the movie, 2026 promises to be a major period for Mario and his allies.

Nintendo confirmed a trio of new releases already confirmed for that year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Premiere Date Announced

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
